Residential Waste & Recycling
Residential solid waste and recycling collection is administered by the City through a contractual agreement with Burrtec Waste. Jurupa Valley residents are provided with three barrels, which are all serviced on the same day each week.
Collection Information
All barrels must be curbside by 6:00 a.m. on your service day. Barrels need to be removed from curbside within 12 hours after waste collection.

Food Waste Recycling
As of July 1, 2024, food waste will no longer go in your trash barrel. Instead, residents need to bag all food waste and place it in the green barrel. Food soiled paper such as napkins, fast food wrappers, coffee filters, and pizza boxes are also accepted and should be included with bagged food waste. Food waste pails are available to Jurupa Valley residents at Jurupa Valley City Hall. The pails are compact and can conveniently be placed under your kitchen sink or on your countertops. Availability of food waste pails is on a first-come, first-served basis, limited to one per household. Proof of residency required. For questions regarding the food waste recycling program, please email publicworks@jurupavalley.org or call (951) 332-6464 ext. 244.

Residents should submit an online service order form through Burrtec.com requesting a bulky item pickup before leaving bulky items at the curb. Burrtec Waste will collect up to 6 bulky items per request. Please provide Burrtec Waste with at least one business day advance notice, and the bulky items will be collected on your next regular collection day.
Bulky items include furniture, small household appliances, mattresses, rugs, sofas, chairs, refrigerators, washers, dryers, water heaters, dishwashers, e-waste (computers, televisions, VCRs, stereos), and scrap wood not exceeding one and one-half cubic yards.
Bulky items do not include construction and demolition waste, or any items that cannot be handled by two persons.
Street Sweeping
The City contracts with Burrtec Waste to provide street sweeping services. Street sweeping occurs twice per month in areas that have curbs and gutters. Contact Burrtec Waste for questions/concerns regarding street sweeping at (951) 786-0639.
Holiday Tree Collection Program
Burrtec will collect all natural undecorated trees placed at the curbside, for up to two (2) weeks after December 25th. All tinsel, ornaments, and support stands must be removed and trees over six (6) feet must be cut in half. Artificial trees are not accepted. This is a free program.
Used Battery Recycling
Residents can drop off their used/old household batteries at the Burrtec battery collecting bin located in the lobby of Jurupa Valley City Hall. Large batteries such as car batteries or mobile home batteries are not accepted.
Used Oil Collection
Recycling used motor oil conserves a natural resource and is good for the environment. Motor oil poured into the ground, into storm drains, or tossed into trash cans (even in a sealed container) can contaminate and pollute the soil, groundwater, streams, and rivers. Recycling your used motor oil reduces this pollution threat.
Burrtec will collect up to two (2) gallons of used oil from single-family residences on the customers’ regularly scheduled collection day. Customers must provide the container and provide Burrtec with advanced notice. Residents may also take used motor oil to a certified collection center.
Many households generate hazardous waste that is dangerous or illegal to dispose of in the trash and can also be harmful to the environment. Chemicals in illegally or improperly disposed hazardous waste can be released into the environment and contaminate our air and water.
Riverside County residents may dispose of Household Hazardous Waste at no cost every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Agua Mansa Permanent HHW Facility located at 1780 Agua Mansa Road, Jurupa Valley, CA 92509. For more information, please visit the Riverside County HHW Website.
