Today Governor Brown vetoed Senator Roth’s Senate Bill 817, which would have restored the ongoing funding taken away from the 4 newest cities in California in 2011, including Jurupa Valley. Our 4 cities continue to be treated disproportionately from the other 478 cities in the state. It has come to the City’s attention that a rumor is circulating that Greyhound is opening a bus terminal in the old Albertson’s building on Limonite Ave. That rumor is false. *URGENT* City Council Urges Residents to Help Restore Funding

The Jurupa Valley City Council urgently requests that all residents contact Governor Jerry Brown’s office and urge him to sign SB 817. This vital piece of legislation will restore the approximately $5.5 million in annual funding the state diverted from Jurupa Valley in 2011 when they adopted legislation to support the state prison realignment program. It is vitally important that the Governor restore this annual funding as it is significant to the City’s ability to provide a greater level of law enforcement  to combat the negative effects that the prison realignment has had directly on our community due to early prisoner releases.
